Meet the Board

Matt Grace (Co-Chair): Co-Chair, is an experienced professional engineer with 25 years in the field of green buildings and one of only two LEED Fellows in Alberta. Matt made Calgary his home in 2007 and is passionate about finding pragmatic climate change and healthy building solutions for Calgarians. He chairs the Technical Standards Committee for Built Green Canada and serves on the Leadership Board of the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Green Building Council.

Dr. Joe Vipond (Co-Chair): Co-Chair, is an emergency physician practicing at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.  He was one of the key organizers for both the Alberta and Canadian Coal Phase Outs, and sits on the national board of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment.

Joan Lawrence: is a freelance writer and interpretive planner who has developed environmental education projects in parks across Alberta and British Columbia. She is passionate about helping people take action on environmental issues.

Aïda Nciri: is passionate about building inclusive and resilient communities. With over seven years of research experience and community engagement in the non-profit, academic, and institutional sector, Aïda brings a sound interdisciplinary expertise in energy and climate policies, urban governance, and community building. Aïda holds a Master Degree of Public Policies from Sciences-Po Paris (France) and a PhD degree from the University of Calgary.

Kelley Robins: is an avid outdoorsman and advocate for sustainable development, environmental protection and social justice. Kelley currently works in environmental consulting and the tech world, but spends her free time enjoying the outdoors and researching our food systems - including how they work, how we interact with them, and how we can use them to build community and restore our ecosystems. Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Master of Engineering, and a specialization in Applied Sustainability, all from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. 

Devon Keiran: is a born and raised Calgarian who has returned home to work on engineering solutions for energy efficient buildings and an Alberta-based energy transition. He enjoys grassroots volunteering and climbing, running, cycling, and ski touring in our mountains.
