We have a request to those of you willing to engage on the letter writing front. We Eco-Elders are very concerned about both the process and the environmental implications of the Provincial Government’s decision to rescind the 1976 Coal Policy.
The attached links describe this issue and the concerns with how the government has left our provincial lands open to the continued mining of coal.
The modern mechanism that they feel will adjudicate the applications appropriately is the Alberta Energy Regulator. This mechanism is fraught with scandal and bias as the Alberta Review article below describes. As well, funding cuts have left the regulator shorthanded compromising thorough reviews.
