All-Electric Hub & Spokes Group Ride 2024

Our first ever All-Electric Hub & Spokes Group Ride event took place on August 24th, with over 40 Calgarians joining host Steve Bentley for a supercharged exploration of Calgary's active transportation network.

This event welcomed riders of all skill levels to test ride eBikes graciously on loan from Bow Cycle Ebikes, to take a Bird eScooter for a spin, or simply ride their own micromobility ride of choice and gain some experience using Calgary's growing Active Transportation network. This event was also made possible by generous funding and support from Gasonic Group, the City of Calgary, and Bullfrog Power.

In preparation for this event, your host, Bentley, dug into this new means of transportation and emerged thinking that Ebikes and eScooters (or Micromobility) are very much the unsung climate, health and affordability heroes of the last few years. Our group of riders wound their way through the Beltline, making their way past the Saddledome, through Stampede park before putting their ebikes to the test on the long climb up Scotsmans Hill. Upon their return, the riders took their escooters for a rip around the nearby cycling lanes before gathering at Civic Tavern for well-earned refreshments.

Everyone had a safe and happy ride, and the most frequently asked question was "When is the next ride happening?"
