Freshwater Conservation Canada and the Calgary Climate Hub are teaming up for a Bow River walkabout!
Join us for an afternoon of learning, exploration, and fun along the beautiful Bow River!
We’ll meet at the Beaver Sanctuary on Prince’s Island Park to kick off an educational walking tour exploring the river’s rich history, diverse ecosystems, and connections to climate action and justice.
Along the way, we’ll:
-
Explore our complex relationship with beavers and their role in local ecosystems.
-
Discover the history of Prince’s Island and the Eau Claire Lumber Mill.
-
Learn about Brown Trout spawning, fish habitat needs, and recreational angling.
-
Hear about the City of Calgary’s climate mitigation efforts, the impacts of the 2013 flood, and the broader connections between climate change and climate justice.
Whether you’re passionate about conservation, curious about Calgary’s river ecosystems, or simply looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend an afternoon outdoors, we’d love to have you join us!
Meeting location: Beaver Sanctuary, Prince’s Island Park, Calgary
Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
