What is Beaver Fest?

In the spirit of regeneration, this inagural festival is a tribute and celebration of all things Beaver. Through sharing Beaver-themed food, live music, games, and some surprise activities, we'll learn all about these charming, keystone animals that share and shape our landscapes.

Beavers play a special role in our rivers and ecosystems. Just by pursuing their own lives, they help regenerate the wider landscapes around them. Their dams help slow and store water, create wetlands, provide habitat for wildlife, increase biodiversity, filter water for our rivers, and make our watersheds more resilient to drought, floods, and wildfires.

Beaver Fest is an opportunity to have some fun while discovering the remarkable relationships between beavers, wetlands, healthy landscapes, and the water we depend on every day.

What to Expect

Spend the afternoon at beautiful North Glenmore Park and enjoy:

  • Beaver-themed food & treats
  • Live music
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Beaver and wildlife education
  • Watershed and wetland learning
  • Local conservation and community organizations
  • Opportunities to learn about restoring healthy beaver habitat
  • And plenty of beaver-themed fun

Whether you’re a lifelong nature lover, curious about Calgary’s watersheds, looking for something fun to do with the family, or simply think beavers are awesome, you’re invited.

Why Beavers?

Beavers have been shaping the waterways of this landscape for thousands of years.

By building dams and creating wetlands, beavers can help water stay on the landscape longer—supporting fish, birds, amphibians, plants and countless other species.

Healthy beaver habitat can also help communities think differently about some of the biggest water challenges facing Southern Alberta: drought, flooding, biodiversity loss, water quality and watershed resilience.

Beaver Fest is about celebrating these relationships and imagining what becomes possible when we work with nature to restore our watersheds.

What is the Exact Location of the Event?

The event will take place in North Glenmore Park near Vista Point and Parking Lot A. It will be in the field south of the Boathouse, close to Blue Jay and Meadowlark picnic sites. We look forward to seeing you there.
