CANADA ON FIRE: NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8
The federal election on September 20 is critical for the future of all Canadians. Our friends at 350.org have declared Wednesday, September 8, as a national day of action for climate change. All across the country, people like you will be speaking up and letting our leaders know that we need climate action now.

The Calgary Climate Hub is not endorsing in-person events at this time due to COVID-19 numbers, but there is still a lot you can do to make climate action the top issue during our federal and municipal elections.
1. ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7:
Get the facts about how much Calgarians care about climate action. Watch our special election episode of A Climate of Change, when we will be releasing ward-specific polling data that clearly shows that Calgarians care about climate action. Missed it? Find it on our Facebook page.
2. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8:
Make a protest signs and take a selfie or use the attached images to post on social media using the hashtags #CanadaOnFire #Elxn44 #cdnpoli #elxnyyc #ClimateElection. Include a personal message about why you care about climate action. Tag us @ClimateHubYYC and our friends at @350Canada.
Tag or write your candidates. Sample letter:
Dear [Candidate name],
I am a resident in [your federal riding] and I am worried. The fires this summer in British Columbia and around the globe, combined with devastating drought across the prairies and severe flooding in the U.S. and Europe, showed that climate change is not a distant threat. It is a current reality. The release of the IPCC report showed that we have very little time to take meaningful action to prevent the worst impacts of a warming planet.
Polling data shows that I am not alone. Calgarians want our leaders to act.

3. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15:
Engineers Without Borders, the Calgary Climate Hub and other partner organizations will be presenting one of 100 Debates on the Environment with candidates from Calgary Centre.
4. BEFORE SEPTEMBER 20:
Get your Fast & Fair Climate Action lawn sign to show your support for climate action. Take a selfie with your sign and share it on social media, using the tags #Elxn44 #cdnpoli #elxnyyc #ClimateElection #Fast&Fair. Tag us @ClimateHubYYC.
