Dr. Ian Gates, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in UCalgary's Schulich School of Engineering. He is also director of the Global Research Initiative in Sustainable Low Carbon Unconventional Resources. His research interests focus on heavy oil and oil sands recovery process design and optimization.
