Clear the Creek! Himalayan Balsam Weed Pulling!

With support from the City of Calgary, we will be pulling Himalayan Balsam, an invasive plant which has deeply established itself along the creekside on Confederation Creek.

This is a noxious prohibited weed which the city is trying to control (unfortunately with limited success) using spraying. Luckily, hand-pulling has proven to be effective!

Volunteer to help clear this weed from our city parks! We hope to make this a recurring event in order to completely eliminate the Himalayan Balsam.

Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes, and a long sleeve shirt is recommended due to nettle observed in the area. The Calgary Parks will provide gloves.
We will be pulling Himalayan Balsam in Confederation Park, west of 10th street and east of 14th street. See map for meeting location.

A safety talk and instructions on weed pulling will be provided at 10am. Please try to be there 15 minutes early to ensure everyone is present for the talk. Volunteers can stay until 12:30 if they have a little extra time available.
Will you come?
