Protect the Eastern Slopes

The Calgary Climate Hub focusses on taking action at the municipal level, but sometimes issues outside the boundaries of Calgary affect our city and are too important to ignore. Mountaintop coal removal is one such issue. Open-pit mining on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains will negatively affect habitat and could release toxic selenium into our watershed.

The Eco-Elders for Climate Action and our partners at CPAWS Southern Alberta are leading the charge, and the Hub is pleased to be part of of Albertans for Coal-Free Rockies
