The First-Ever Seniors’ Climate Witness Caravan gets ready to leave the Confluence at 9:00 am Sept. 11, to continue the journey to Ottawa

The first-ever electric vehicle caravan of seniors, the Seniors’ Climate Witness Caravan, is travelling to Ottawa to send the message to government that we need to take action on the climate crisis now.  Fund our future, not pipelines!

There is a public send off by Calgarians for the six electric vehicles that left Mile Zero in Victoria on September 8, beginning the 11-day trek across the country.   The gathering at the confluence will be a chance for the seniors on the caravan to listen to Albertans’ stories about how they have been impacted by the changing climate.  These stories will be part of the Seniors Climate Witness presentation to government.  The caravan will be joined by others from cities and towns as they travel across Canada, with stops in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.  People from Quebec and the Maritimes will join the Seniors Climate Witness in Ottawa.

Seniors’ Climate Witness is bringing together seniors, people of faith and allies from across Canada to call on the federal government to invest in clean energy and climate resilience — not new fossil-fuel pipelines — and respect Indigenous rights. Caravans from the east and west coasts will converge on Ottawa September 19th for a week of public witness and nonviolent action as Parliament reconvenes.
