Join us on November 20th from 12pm-1:30pm for a Nature Based Solutions workshop, in partnership with Green Calgary!
This event will be held at the Kahanoff Centre, 105 12 Ave SE, and a light lunch will be provided.
Nature Based Solutions include a broad range of collective actions that work to restore, protect and sustainably manage ecosystems to address societal challenges, such as food/water security, biodiversity loss, the climate crisis, and more.
Listen to three local experts share information on collective food security, rain gardens, and green infrastructure! Following the presentations, you will be able to spend some time exploring methods to begin implementing your own community Nature Based Solutions project, with direct support from the presenters.
Presenters Include:
- Joanna Tschudy - Calgary Horticultural Society - Rain Gardens
- Jack Goodwin - Vacant Lots Farm Club - Collective Food Security
- Matt Grace - Sustainability Inc. - Green Infrastructure
All attendees will be invited to join our new Nature Based Solutions Network, where you will receive additional support to implement your project - helping identify locations, native plant selection, soil remediation tasks, project design, volunteer coordination, communications, land access and permitting, stewardship/long-term maintenance plans, outcome monitoring, funding, and more!
Cost: Free!
This project is made possible through a generous grant from the Alberta Real Estate Foundation
