Alberta's Low Carbon Transition: The Hydrogen Question
Join Sustainable Calgary and our guest panelists for a discussion of Alberta’s evolving hydrogen possibilities. What kinds of hydrogen are there? Are they sustainable? What role can hydrogen play in our transition to a low carbon economy? What other action is required in conjunction with this technology? Our three outstanding panelists will help explain the technology, address policy questions, and explore ways we can work towards transitioning Alberta to a low carbon economy.
Panelists will be:
Dr. Ian D. Gates, Professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, EnCana/Petroleum Society Endowed Chair, and Director of the University of Calgary's CFREF $75M sustainable low-carbon unconventional resources program.
Dr. Sara Hastings-Simon, Senior Researcher at the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines and co-founder of Energy vs Climate, a live, interactive webinar and podcast that explores the trade-offs and hard truths of the energy transition in Alberta, Canada, and beyond.
Dr. Noel Keough is co-founder and Indicator Project Lead at Sustainable Calgary Society, and a founding member of the National Working Group for the Canadian Index of Wellbeing. His forthcoming book: Sustainability Matters: Prospects for Transition in Canada's Petro Citystate, is due out in Spring 2021.
