Green Line Approved!

City Council tonight approved Stage 1 of the Greenline from Shepard to 16 Ave NW. Last-minute amendments will see the line built in stages to de-risk the project.

This campaign was a joint effort with our partners at Calgary Alliance for the Common Good, and volunteers put in countless hours over the past few weeks to make presentations to the Green Line Committee, get our position out to the media, and meet with the Mayor and councillors. Together, we advocated for this important project which will have important social and environmental benefits by connecting under-served communities to transit, creating 20,000 jobs, and reducing GHG emissions by 30,000 tonnes or the equivalent of removing 6,000 cars the first year alone. A huge thank you to the volunteers who worked hard to analyze reports, create briefing notes, and draft key messages. Thank you to every one of our members who called and emailed their councillors, and kept the pressure up on social media today.

We did it! Thank you for your support! Together, we can make a difference.
