This workshop is Part One of a two-part series – register for Part Two here

In partnership with Flowers by Cate Wolfe and St. Andrews Heights Community Association, this two-part workshop series invites participants to explore creative practice as a pathway to environmental connection.

Through weaving and working with natural materials, participants will learn to engage with plants in ways that are mindful, relational, and restorative, fostering both personal well-being and a deeper sense of ecological responsibility.

This hands-on workshop invites participants to slow down and reconnect with the natural world through the practice of willow wreath weaving. Together, we will explore how to work with plant materials in a way that is mindful, respectful, and rooted in relationship.

Participants will be guided through the process of creating a willow wreath base while engaging in conversations around sustainable foraging, ethical harvesting practices, and what it means to build a relationship with plants. Drawing on concepts such as “visiting as method”, this workshop encourages participants to move beyond extraction-based interactions and toward a more reciprocal way of engaging with trees and plant life.

As we weave, we will take time to notice the material itself, the flexibility of the willow, the way it responds to touch, and the quiet presence it holds. This workshop is not only about making a wreath, but about learning how to be present with the plants we work with, and recognizing them as more-than-human participants in the process.

No prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.
